ACOLYTES

I would like to extend an invitation to students in the second grade and above to serve your church as an Acolyte for 2010. No experience is necessary (a training for new Acolytes will take place Sunday afternoon, February the 21, 2010.)

Your service will consist of bringing the light of Christ into the Sanctuary at the 10:45 worship service, assisting with the offering and carry the light of Christ into the world at the end of the service. Please contact the church office by phone or email by February 20 if you are interested in serving your church in this important way.

Sherry Wesley, Acolyte Coordinator

IN APPRECIATION

To the congregants and parents in FUMC:

On behalf of the kids in UMYF I would like to thank all of you for your prayerful support of this group as they attended Winter Blitz 2010 in Louisville this past Sunday. Without your financial and spiritual support of groups like UMYF, these kids would not have been afforded the opportunity to enjoy such a wonderful experience. We had a blast at Winter Blitz! The music was wonderful and the speaker was amazing. Our kids learned a lot about themselves from a spiritual perspective and gained lessons about Christianity and the world that they will be able to carry throughout their life in their walk with God. Please continue to keep this group in your prayers as we try to grow our relationship with God through fellowship and understanding of God's Word.

Thanks,

Josh Taylor

Dear FUMC Family,

Thank you so much for the calls, the prayers, and the love you have shown to us during the sickness and death of my grandmother. Being so far away from our family is very difficult, but knowing that we can lean on our "Glasgow Family" means so much to us.
Love, Josh, Amanda, and Maddie Taylor

Dear FUMC,

Thank you so much for the beautiful white floral arrangement that you sent for Dad’s funeral. It meant so much to all of us. We know how much Dad loved you and what a major part all of you played in his life.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.

By His Grace, Sherrie Duff and the Owen Gilbert Family

OFFERING ENVELOPES

Offering Envelopes for the year 2010 are available in the foyer outside the Church Office. They are in alphabetical order. If you do not find a box with your name on it, please check with the church office and we will see that you have envelopes.

The offering envelopes are a major part of record keeping for the church’s financial records. Thank you for your faithful support and for using the offering envelopes. (Note: We recycle old offering envelopes. If you have any left over please return them to the church office or drop in the box provided.)

---------------

RECYCLED ENVELOPES

Please turn you recycled offering envelopes into the church office. DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE PEWS for others to use. Everyone who uses the envelope system is given their own number and it gets confusing if someone else uses the recycled envelope. We will recycle them in the church office. Thank you.

"NOTHING BUT NETS"

Children all over Africa are dying (one every 30 seconds) of malaria. Over half of these deaths are caused by mosquito bites. Our United Methodist Church is working with Sports Illustrated and the National Basketball Association to buy treated bed nets that can cut these deaths into half. Is there a person or group in our church that can hear God's call to be part of this ministry and take leadership of it? It's called "Nothing But Nets" and you can learn more from Dean or at www.nothingbutnets.net. What about it?

---------------

HELPING HANDS MINISTRY

The Helping Hands Ministry is up and running and ready to provide services to our church family. If you are in need of minor carpentry jobs, minor electrical jobs, minor plumbing jobs, or odd jobs such as cleaning gutters, roof leaks, turning mattress, hanging pictures, etc., please contact the church office and we will contact someone to help you.

FAMILY LIFE CENTER RESERVATIONS

***Please remember that reservations for the Family Life Center must be made through the office and the reservation form must be filled out to enter it on the calendar. This applies to all groups including ministries and classes. Please help us avoid scheduling conflicts.***
